The Challenge:
Auto dealerships boast a diverse array of vehicles, from sleek cars to robust trucks. Yet, the dynamic nature of their inventory presented a unique challenge โ creating individualized ads for each vehicle across the vast Facebook Ads Network. Dealerships, already stretched thin, lacked the resources to manage this intricate process manually.
The Dynamic Solution:
Harnessing the power of Facebook’s Dynamic Ads feature designed for retail, we forged a strategic partnership with CDK, a company that had a significant marketshare of US dealerships utilizing their catalog system. This enabled us to seamlessly translate dealership inventory systems into a dynamic catalog for Facebook Ads, having the unique images, descriptions, and pricing of vehicles. Instantly, tailored advertisements for every vehicle on the lot began to populate across the expansive ads network.
Bridging the Gap:
However, there was a hurdle. Dealerships needed to synchronize their CDK catalog with Facebook Ads Manager, a process traditionally complex and time-consuming. Recognizing the need for a user-friendly solution, our team crafted an intuitive walkthrough process. This empowered non-technical dealership personnel to effortlessly connect their catalog and initiate advertising campaigns.
Design Excellence:
In the pursuit of a seamless user experience, we leveraged standard UI patterns within the Ads Manager design system. Additionally, our team introduced innovative UX flows to simplify the connection process. Collaborating closely with our in-house illustrator team, we commissioned bespoke illustrations, adding a touch of uniqueness to the user journey.
Team Collaboration:
Under my leadership, I guided an intern, Patrick Ly, in creating screens and troubleshooting challenges. Rigorous user testing ensured the product met user expectations, and we went a step further by producing comprehensive walkthrough videos for advertisers, serving as a visual aid in the connection process.

Our solution not only streamlined the advertising process for auto dealerships but also democratized access to dynamic advertising on Facebook.
